Inspiration

The question I'm often asked is why I paint the images I do or where my ideas come from.
It's a question that always brings me back to the people who inspire me the most - those who don't fit neatly into the boxes society tries to place them in.

The most interesting people I've ever met are contrarians. These are not just individuals who march to their own beat for attention, but those who genuinely see the world differently. They are the ones who refuse to conform to expectations, even when doing so would mean a simpler more comfortable life. Their authenticity shines through, and that courage to be themselves is what resonates deeply with me.

In a world that often celebrates uniformity and discourages dissent, contrarians push boundaries, ask uncomfortable questions, and open new doors of possibility. For me, these people aren't just fascinating - they are necessary.

When I create, it's their stories, their energy and their defiant spirit I try to capture. My work isn't just about portraying the way things look; it's about exploring the way they feel. The boldness of those who live authentically drives my creative choices from colour and form to subject matter.

For all the contrarians, dreamers and non-conformists out there you inspire more than you know. Art , after all isn't just about aesthetics - it's about reflecting the complexity and beauty of the human spirit.
